Golden ticket and new wheelie bins

Five golden tickets to be found as part of new waste collection service.

Residents will start to receive new wheelie bins from New Forest District Council (NFDC) next week (14 April) as part of its new waste collection service.

Bins and food waste caddies are being delivered to residents in Brockenhurst, New Milton, Lymington, and surrounding areas between 14 April and 6 June 2025.

These residents are in the phase 1 area for the council’s new waste and recycling service, which is being rolled out in 3 area phases, starting from June 2025.

With the caddies will be a ‘Get Set’ leaflet, starter roll of caddy liners, and, to encourage residents to find and read their leaflet, the council is running a golden ticket competition.

Five golden tickets are being placed in the grey indoor food waste caddies, and can be used to redeem one of 5 different prizes on offer.

Winners of the golden tickets can choose from an annual garden waste subscription, a New Forest Show family ticket, a compost bin or water butt, one bulky waste collection, or a £50 donation to the chairman’s charity.

As part of the new service, households will get a black-lidded 180 litre wheelie bin for rubbish, and a green-lidded 240 litre recycling bin, along with an outdoor and an indoor caddy for the new food waste recycling service.

Cllr Geoffrey Blunden, portfolio holder for environment and sustainability, said: “I encourage residents receiving their new bins to check their food waste caddy.

Not only for the chance to win with the golden ticket, but also as the ‘Get Set’ leaflet contains useful information about the new waste collection service, such as what can be put in their food waste caddies.”
