Keep ‘In Touch’ with New Forest council services – new mobile app launched

If you spot a broken street light or a messy bit of graffiti while out and about, you don’t have to wait until you get home to report it.

New Forest District Council has launched the New Forest In Touch mobile app, which lets you photograph, video and report issues directly to the council – where it will be quickly addressed by the appropriate service.

The fast and efficient app, which is free to download from iTunes and Google Play for Android devices, lets you report issues 24/7 from anywhere in the UK via your Smartphone.

Councillor Colin Wise, New Forest District Council’s portfolio holder for finance and efficiency, said:

“This is an excellent app, which I hope many residents will download.  The ability for people to send us photos and GPS location data means the quality and accuracy of the information we can receive through the mobile application is much better when compared to more traditional reporting channels.  This will enable us to respond to customers more quickly and with greater efficiency – saving time and money.”

You can submit reports for issues to do with fly-tipping, refuse collections, litter, a broken pavement or street lighting, problems with parking meters, abandoned vehicles, drains, graffiti, dog fouling and more.

Using the mobile app is easy – to submit a report you just select the appropriate category, such as ‘health and safety’, complete the questions and capture the evidence with a photo or video, enter your location and send!

The council will then get to work to resolve the issue and once completed, you will receive an email to keep you updated.

You can view your submitted reports at any time and can opt to receive progress reports.
You can also use the New Forest In Touch app to contact the council, find its location or to visit the council’s website.

Future developments in store for the app include access to council news and fast track links to popular areas of the council’s website.
